Situation:

Next Phase began in 2018 to assist a global informatics service provider (“Client”) which has been going through increasingly large expansions across UK/EU. Since then we have been working closely on various informatics roles, ranging from Developers, Senior Consultants and Principal-level roles. Given that the Client has very specific technical requirements, each of these positions typically involves finding people who are not actively looking for a new position, who know the value of their expertise, and who may not be accessible through traditional resourcing methods.

Task:

As the company continued to expand their team into Europe, multiple requirements were made available at the beginning of 2022: Python Developers, Dev Ops/TechOps Consultants, Data Modellers, Data Scientists, Bioinformaticians and Informatics Consultants. Since the Client was looking to hire large volume of candidates, the project was split between 4 Recruiters within Next Phase who collaborated on these positions. The Client was happy for the candidates to come from any country in UK or Europe which opened our search and allowed us to look for the best talent out there.

Action:

Since this was a big project, the 4 Recruitment Consultants at Next Phase had weekly updates with the Client regarding feedback, candidate requirements, interview schedules and offer details. This allowed us to keep on top of the process, which definitely helped since the company was going through an extremely busy time. Due to a high number of candidates being submitted for various roles, it was crucial that we were able to communicate this with the candidates and manage their expectations when it came to feedback times.

Every application was supported with our Personality Profiling, which not only brings the CV to life, but also allows the interviewers to gather a range of options on how to interview the candidate, which communication style works best, and how to get the best from each individual through creating a personalised onboarding plan.

Results:

Through creating a defined structure for presenting candidates, discussing feedback and managing interviews and offers in a collaborative way, Next Phase were able to place 15 individuals within this company between January 2022 and May 2022 (most individuals have started at the time of writing, and some are still awaiting to join). We still have several candidates at interview stages and hope to expand this number further throughout the year.
