I am running the whole recruitment process for a growing Biotech company based in Zurich who are looking for a Director of their Service Business. They're currently in the process of growing multiple teams and this role is crucial as they need strong leadership experience to manage a small group of high level scientific professionals. The company specialises in cutting edge solutions for cell line development.
Responsibilities:
As the Director of the Service Business, you will be involved in:
Process development and optimization of their CRISPR cell line engineering service (from R&D to production) to enable scalability of the business
Further industrialization of their service business to ensure a ready-to-market product portfolio
Close collaboration with different departments and stakeholders to foster alignment and build streamlined and lean processes
Oversight of laboratory automation implementation to increase efficiency and throughput in close collaboration with their internal laboratory automation expert and R&D engineers
Continuous update and improvement of the company’s understanding and knowledge around industry innovations and novelties
Improvement of their quality control system for engineered cell lines
Leadership and alignment of R&D and Fulfillment teams working on their CRISPR cell line engineering service
Establishment of clear and comprehensive documentation standards
Ensuring that regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines are followed
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Technical or scientific degree in cell or molecular biology (or similar within Life Sciences)
Several years of practical experience in a similar position
Several years of leadership experience and a strong ability to initiate and lead change processes
Proven track record in building up and managing a biotechnological service business
Strong engineering and entrepreneurial mindset and experience in industrialization of new products
Proficient project management skills
Good understanding of the work of cell/molecular biologists and the challenges that come with running a bio laboratory in a commercial setting

High proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with advanced MD/FEP simulation methods for protein-small molecule complexes.
Basic programming skills (Python, Jupyter notebook, bash).
