We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Process Safety Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and maintaining our Health, Safety, Environmental Management, and Sustainability programs, ensuring the safety of employees, processes, and surrounding communities. This position involves conducting risk assessments, supporting incident investigations, developing compliance strategies, and providing technical guidance to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, implement, support, and maintain an effective HSE Process Safety Management System to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Evaluate safety and environmental risks associated with new process introductions and modifications to existing processes. Determine and implement necessary safety controls.

  • Conduct technical assessments of new equipment and facilities using recognized formal risk assessment methodologies (e.g., Hazop, PHA, LoPA).

  • Identify and assess Major Accident Scenarios in line with COMAH regulations and company procedures.

  • Maintain and update Hazard Area Classifications.

  • Conduct detailed chemical risk assessments to support safe operations.

  • Provide technical guidance to operations and manufacturing teams to resolve safety and environmental performance issues, ensuring best practices are followed.

  • Develop, establish, and maintain effective site emergency preparedness and response procedures.

  • Plan, participate in, and support internal audit programs to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the site HSE Management System.

  • Deliver relevant training programs in accordance with established training plans to promote safety awareness and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years in the chemical industry working to GMP standards

  • Strong experience in hazard area classification & chemical risk assessment, the candidate will need good comms as they are working with chemists and process engineers

  • Must have the Knowledge, Experience and Skills to ensure that the requirements necessary for the Control of Major Accident Hazards are being fully implemented

  • Knowledge of HSE theories and concepts, with a good understanding of the underlying principles of Safety Management and a basic understanding of HSE Management Systems

  • Knowledge of the operating principles and safety features of pharmaceutical processing technologies​
