Purpose of the Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Lead to drive new business opportunities aimed at establishing a world-leading ecosystem in the UK to support the manufacturing and delivery of life-transforming therapies to patients. This senior leadership position will report to the Chief Business Officer and play a key role in shaping business development strategies, particularly in manufacturing and supply chain projects within the cell and gene therapy or biologics industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts to build and manage relationships with both UK and international collaborators.

  • Develop and execute strategy for manufacturing and supply chain innovation, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.

  • Source, develop, and maintain key collaborator relationships, working collaboratively with internal teams to support business growth.

  • Provide ongoing market feedback and insights to senior leadership, contributing to the evolution of business development and operational strategies.

  • Perform any other duties required to support the successful execution of the company’s mission.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a business development role within the cell and gene therapy or biologics industry, with a focus on manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) manufacturing requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Highly motivated, pragmatic, and practical, with a commitment to supporting the development of a commercial cell and gene therapy-based industry.

  • High commercial awareness with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels across departments.

  • Proven track record of leadership and successful personnel management, including the ability to motivate and develop teams.

  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, with a focus on achieving results in complex business environments.

  • Willingness to travel, with approximately 50% of the time spent working at different facilities and locations.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Honours degree in a relevant biological or commercial discipline.
