This is an excellent and influential opportunity to secure a leadership position in a company driving innovation in the Cell & Gene Therapy sector. The opportunity is to join as Head of Business Development and lead activities for a unique manufacturing site and its associated cluster. The purpose of the role is to drive the expansion of the site following its recent growth, including the addition of a new facility, to further enhance world-class capabilities.

Established with the purpose of commercializing Cell & Gene Therapies, this company collaborates with partners based in the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia. They offer cutting-edge technology, services, and capabilities to bridge the gap from translational research through clinical trials to therapy launch. With three sites, they operate a unique GMP manufacturing facility for Advanced Medicinal Therapy Products (AMTPs) / Cell & Gene Therapies, offering manufacturing capabilities for clinical trials and commercial-scale production.

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of the role of Head of Business Development is to drive the expansion of the manufacturing site and win new business for this unique facility. The company’s goals are evolving, and the need to accelerate their expansion makes this role pivotal to the development and execution of the strategy. This is an influential position where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their expertise and contribute new ideas and concepts to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategy, in collaboration with the C-suite, to identify the site’s potential and create a strategic plan to achieve these objectives.

  • Work with the extended team to identify potential collaborators and gain in-depth market knowledge.

  • Lead business development activities for the site and its associated cluster.

  • Manage key relationships within the center as part of an overall business development matrix.

  • Develop and negotiate partnerships with collaborators under fee-for-service relationships.

  • Line manage one Business Development Manager and build out the team as needed.

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience in Business Development within the Biotech, Pharma, ATMP, or Biologics sector.

  • Experience in developing, executing, and leading business development strategies.

  • Understanding of GMP manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing or R&D is advantageous.

  • Line management experience is preferred.
